What is Creativity?

Creativity is about doing something in a new or different way.  Creativity is not a synonym for inventing something new.  Innovation and creativity are often referred to in the same breath and for sure innovation is driven by creativity but in order to innovate we must first have a creative process in place.  Creativity is taking the known and looking at it differently and we can all train ourselves to do this.  Creativity isn’t something you do in your spare time; it has to become a way of life whatever your work or business.  Creativity involves discipline and commitment if you are to benefit from using your creative talents.

What are you trying to accomplish this year?    How can a creativity developer help?

Once you know what it is that you are aiming to achieve, a creativity developer is someone who leads you towards your creative possibilities, someone who works with you to liberate the creativity that is inside you.  To quote Julia Cameron “I teach people to let themselves be creative.”  For me, this means working with someone to help that person with all aspects of their life, so that they can find the ways in which they are creative and then put into place habits and techniques which will sustain the new-found creativity.  As a creativity developer I know when to push you, pull you, and challenge you or when simply to keep quiet!

What is creativity development?

Any empty space might be thought of as a stage.  You enter; somebody else is looking at you and listening to what you have to say.  You can call it an audition, a product presentation and interview but it is an act of theatre.  Working with me, your creativity developer, you now have an opportunity to fill that empty space.

Your meetings, negotiations, interviews, auditions are all much more spontaneous and natural.  People buy from a person not from a PowerPoint presentation or a set of carefully crafted guidelines, so developing your creative persona means that you are true to yourself and to others.
